Here's a custom Helm's Deep playset that I made for Toy Biz LOTR 6" action figures. It's only 85% percent complete (finishing and some structures remains to be done), since I can only devote about 10-20% of my time to it. I initially planned for a diorama but taking inspiration from the AOME HD playset, I thought it would be better to make a playset instead. Besides, I do plan to display there other characters not present during the Battle at Helm's Deep, and I need it to be portable so that I could take it anywhere. In making the playset, I challenged myself to meet the following goals:
1. It must be portable so therefore it must also be lightweight
2. It must be made out of cheap materials
3. It must fit my display shelf
4. It can be assembled and disassembled (more like a 3D jigsaw puzzle)
5. It must be durable
Since I only have a limited display shelf space, I can't follow strictly the proportions depicted in the movie. Besides that would be way too big! And I only made the facade not the whole place. This is my first venture into making customs and hopefully, not my last. I hope to post the final product before Christmas comes. In the meantime, please do enjoy what I can only show for now.
